The current health crisis now impacting literally every nation and people around the world is also bringing to many a sense of hopeless, fear, economic hardship, and depression. As we transition into August, I am sensing God’s call for our church to a special emphasis of prayer, fasting, and repentance.
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14
I am therefore asking each of you to commit to a day or days in August in which you will fast and pray for two things:
(1) that God would show mercy to the nations and bring health and healing from this virus and its effects and
(2) that God’s Spirit would move upon the nations to turn to people to Christ in genuine repentance and faith.
These are not small prayers. Yet, we believe God is doing something in our world that is unprecedented in terms of its world-wide scope and the opportunity in our day to communicate the gospel as never before. We serve a loving God, “who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth” (1 Timothy 2:4).
So I invite you to join together in humble prayer by signing up on our web form or calling the office to pick your day or days. Then, we will have a Concert of Prayer on Monday, August 31 at 7pm with some people gathering in person at the church and others gathering online through Zoom.
Praying with you,
